  • Serving authentic kacchi murgh dum biryani Sep 16, 2012

    Very few restaurants in hyderabad serve kacchi dum biryani because of the risk involved in it. Especially Kacchi ghosh dum biryani. I had kacchi murgh dum biryani. It was made as per the actual recipe. Loved the honesty of the owner. Service is a bit slow. But i went there only to check out biryani. So 4 stars out of five for kacchi dum murgh biryani.

    I had written a review about Kholani's (the first review for this place) and described my disliking for the Bar-B-Que section. I had also suggested that ToI's food guide and food awards are probably not authentic.

    This year, Kholani's won again an award in ToI's Food Award. On last Wednesday, I and my wife were going to Shah Ghouse to have some biriyani and got stuck in a very bad traffic jam. Kholani's was just nearby, and I suggested that instead of wasting time we can go there. My wife warned me about the bad experience we had last time- but still thought of giving it a try.

    I have visited this place many times along with family. Everytime we went for a'la'carte, we keep going back only because food here tastes good and the rates are not exorbitant.

    This time we were unlucky to try their bar-b-cue. They have it for 495/- per person. unlimited kebabs and buffet.

    Let me keep it short and simple:

    Kababs tasted good, especially chicken was juciest I had for long time.
    This is again a copy of Barbcue Nation.

    First thing first—never trust TOI’s#1 Food Guide and Food Awards. I believed in that, and got cheated!!!

    Let me describe my tryst with Kholani’s in detail. I was continuously reading about this particular restaurant in TOI’s Food Guide on Saturday editions, and thought of giving it a try. On this weekend (either 25th or 26th) TOI published the list of the winners of their Food Award—and Kholani’s was awarded with Hyderabad’s Best Fine Dining Restaurant.
